The key design features of this alterations and additions project include a light-filled living and dining space that connects seamlessly with the garden despite being constrained by the South facing site and existing swimming pool. We maintained a focus on designing a contemporary and functional kitchen that complements the living and dining areas, and a new second-story addition that provides expansive views of the surrounding landscape while minimizing the visual impact on the heritage-dense street. In addition, we incorporated sustainable design features such as rainwater harvesting, and a solar hot water system to enhance the home's energy efficiency and minimize its environmental footprint. The resulting design is a harmonious blend of traditional and modern elements that creates a comfortable, inviting, and sustainable family home that will meet the changing needs of its occupants for years to come.
