No. 89 Darlinghurst
This mixed-use development, both a boarding house and restaurant, was completed in a Heritage Conservation area in Darlinghurst. The existing brick wall fronting Crown Street was retained, while the alterations made within included a new commercial space in the building’s basement and ground floor, and twenty four boarding house units from the first to fifth floors. The site was on a slope subject to flooding, and had particular size constraints. Close collaboration with the builders was paramount in ensuring they had the support for the build to run smoothly. The result of this effort was a perfectly functional and attractive final product.
